Lotus blooms over Cycle.

Uttarpradesh being the most populous state of India, has always been crucial in the political scenario. But this time The Game of Seats got even more enthralling as two of the promienent parties, SP & Congress had joined their hands to take on the Saffron camp. After doing the publicty stunt of break-make incidents, the Yadavs were sure of their so called Grand  Alliance’s victory.

But on 11th March, when the votes went under the count and results were announced, the ballon of this Grand Alliance got pricked.

The cycle melted down and the hand couldn’t save it as the Saffron brigade won with a thumping majority. The Lotus bloomed, as it won more than 300 assembly seats in UP marking a historic win. It was not just unexpected but it was totally unpredictable as no opinion poll showed such great numbers favoring the Lotus. The Cycle, the Hand and the Elephant all three put together were less than even 1/3rd of what the Lotus won.

It was a great setback for the Yadav and the Gandhi boys as they had worked hard to join hands and take on the Lotus guys. But BJP was not going to give up against them because they knew what at stake was, it was not just a state but it mattered for its contribution in the Upper House of the Parliament. BJP needs a majority in Rajyasabha to get it’s bills passed and winning UP has made their way easy.

Along with UP, the Lotus bloomed in Uttarakhand too. For the first time in history, a party has won more than 50 seats in Uttarakhand. As some relief, Congress got Punjab in its pocket. Defeating the threat of getting wiped by the Broom, the Hand got a clear majority in Punjab. Two other states which had also gone to polls were Goa and Manipur. As expected Manipur settled a Hung house for itself, while there was no clear majority in Goa too. But it seems that the Lotus isn’t ready to give away these states also.

The Cycle got sunk in its own mud and the Lotus bloomed over it.
